Infrastructure Maintenance
Whilst an amount of our work is involved with provision of new infrastructure, we also aim to keep an up-to-date record of what maintenance is required on existing infrastructure.
The following map is a first step at documenting these areas. Anything YELLOW implies work required. Information is split across layers : Paths, Benches, Signs, Bins, etc.
Gates
Paths such as the CinderTrack often have gates. These provide a barrier to people using some types of bicycle, mobility scooters, wheelchairs as well as to people on horses. Where there is no issue with livestock needing to be restricted to an area it is considered best to use something like a chicane with suitable spaced fencing to restrict entry to motor vehicles but allow entry for those who need to use the path. We will be looking at upgrading any gates of this type where it is possible to do so.
The following gate was introduced by the 2024 Sustrans/DfT-funded changes to the Burniston-Cloughton section of the CinderTrack. It provides 1.5m width to pass through, with the order of 2m gap behind the gate for the chicane.
