Active travel is to be enjoyed, first and foremost. That, coupled with having an ageing population in this area, and we have a necessity for conveniently placed benches alongside active travel path networks. The further you get from the centre of Whitby the scarcer the benches become. The Cinder Track has a few on the sections that have had a new surface but that is the exception.

We would like to fund the provision of benches placed in strategic locations, to improve the usage levels of what paths we do have. We will be assessing the primary routes and the current locations of benches and coming up with proposed locations.
